SCARBOROUGH - Madeline E. Watson, 92, of Scarborough died July 17, 2012 at a Portland Hospital. She was born in Portland, Maine on March 23, 1920 the daughter of Stephen and Henrietta Pooler Conley. Madeline attended Sacred Heart School and was a 1937 graduate of Portland High School. She furthered her education by attending Northeastern Business School. She married Robert Watson at St. John's Church in Bangor in 1944, he predeceased her in 1993. Madeline worked for many years for the Maine Central Railroad. She was a longtime communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. She was predeceased by her husband in 1993, a son Robert Watson in 2011; a sister, Josephine Smith in 2011; a brother, Stephen J. Conley in 2002. She is survived by a daughter- in-law Andy Watson of Concord, NC; three grandchildren: Babette Johnson, Stephanie and her husband Randy Adamson and R.J. Watson; six great grandchildren: Allyson Johnson, Nathan Watson, Colton Sowers, Danya Sowers, Cody and Sara Adamson. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 20, 2012 from 3:00 to 6:00pm at the Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home at 8:15am on Saturday, July 21, 2012, followed by a 9:00am Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Church, Main Street, South Portland. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland.Online condolences may be expressed below.

  1. We were sorry to hear of Aunt Madeline’s passing. She was a wonderful Aunt. We missed her and Uncle Bob when they retired to Maine. She was the last of her generation in our family.
