Lucille Kosta
Lucille A. Kosta, 93, of Sanford, died on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Southern Maine Health Care in Sanford. Lucille was born in Sanford on February 20, 1921 to Joseph and Clara (St. Onge) Cote. She was orphaned at a young age and was taken in and raised by her sister Florida Legere and her family. In 1942 she married Charles P. Kosta and together they raised two daughters and shared 64 years of marriage until his death in 2006. She was employed as a welder at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard during World War II. She went on to work as a weaver in the Goodall Mills then as a kitchen attendant at Goodall Hospital and finally as a chamber maid at the Colony Inn in Kennebunkport where she was employed until her retirement.Lucille was a devout Catholic and had been a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish in Sanford. She enjoyed cooking and hosting family gatherings. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother who always put the needs of her family before her own. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Lucille was predeceased by a grandson, Normand Lessard.Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Lessard of Berwick and Joanne Rankin and her husband George of Shapleigh; three grandchildren, William Lessard of Sanford, James Lessard of Old Orchard and Jessica Allen and her husband David of Shapleigh; four great grandchildren, William Dillon Lessard, Brianna Butkiewicz and Eliza and Benjamin Allen and many nieces and nephews.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 PM on Monday, March, 31st at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church located on North Avenue in Sanford. Interment will be at a later date at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Patel, the staff at the Mayflower Place and the staff at Southern Maine Health Care, Sanford for the care and compassion shown to Lucille during her period of declining health.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 447 Congress Street, Suite M1, Portland, Maine 04101.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
