Lucille (Dernier) Corthell, 87, of Lynn, MA, passed away August 14, 2009 at the AbbottHouse Nursing Home in Lynn, where she had received great care and attention. Shewas the wife of the late Lawrence K. Corthell. Born and raised in Lynn, Lucille wasdaughter of the late Stanley M. and Annie S. (Bulman) Dernier. She was a graduateof Lynn English High School, class of 1939. Prior to her retirement, she worked for the Lynn Schools in the cafeteria for thirty years. Lucille was a Quaker and a member of the Quaker Church in Lynn until it's closing, then attended the GraceUnited Methodist Church in Lynn. She resided in Waterboro, Maine for twenty fiveyears prior to returning to Lynn. She was a member of the American Legion, LadiesAuxiliary in Sanford, Maine, and a member and past president of the WaterboroEagles, Ladies Auxiliary, Waterboro, Maine. Lucille loved sewing and was an avidreader.She is survived by her children Franklyn Corthell and his wife Jackie of FL,Susan Saunders of Lynn, her brother and sister in law, Stanley and Margaret Dernierof OK, five grandchildren, Robert, Christopher and Tracy Corthell, all of Maine,Wendy Corthell of Revere and Aliesha Jilani of Milton, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her extended family, Dorothea (Pollard) Georgeand family, as well as many friends. She was the mother of the late LawrenceCorthell and sister of the late Walter Dernier. A funeral service will be held in the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, Maine on Tuesday at 1 p.m. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Pine GroveCemetery, South Waterboro, Maine.
