Lucienne C. Pooler

Lucienne C. Pooler, 92, of Lyman, died at her home on Thursday, January 20, 2011 with her family at her side.Lucienne was born in Lewiston on July 24, 1918 to George and Anna (Levesque) Bellisle and attended local schools, graduation from Saints Peter and Paul School in Lewiston. Following high school she attended ACME Business School. She worked as a bookkeeper for several companies during her life. In 1945 she married Dominique Giroux and together they raised a daughter until his death in 1966. In 1969 she married Eugene H. Pooler. Lucienne and Eugene traveled many places during their marriage, wintering in Pompano Beach, FL and spending their summers in Hartford, CT. After Eugene's death in 1982 she moved to Florida full time until relocating back to Maine in 2001 to be closer to her family.Lucienne was a talented musician and seamstress. When she was a young woman she received a gold medal from a music conservatory for piano performance. She enjoyed flower gardening and going shopping. She also enjoyed dancing and playing cards with friends. She was a very outgoing and social person who liked entertaining and cooking for friends and family. She will be remembered as a kind and loving mother, grandmother and aunt and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Lucienne was predeceased by his first husband, Dominique H. Giroux; her second husband, Eugene H. Pooler, four brothers, Antonio, Ernest, Henry and George Bellisle and two sisters, Yvonne Laase and Jeannette Hodsdon.Surviving are her daughter, Suzanne Clemons and her husband Brian of Lyman; three grandchildren, Benjamin S. Clemons and his fiancee Alexis Soler of Nashville, TN, Jonathan H.D. Clemons and his fiancee Julie Nakadai of Portland and Amanda S. McMorrow and her husband Kyle S. of Sharon, MA; a great granddaughter, Penelope H. Clemons of Portland; her godson, Francis W. Laase and his wife Ellen of Mirror Lake, New Hampshire; three great nephews, Christian Laase and his wife Becky of Peach Tree City, GA; Patrick Laase of Mirror Lake, NH and Major William Laase and his wife Carrie of Hanscom Air Force Base, MA; a great niece, Mary E. Laase of Mirror Lake, NH; four great-great nephews, Hunter and Walker Laase of Peach Tree City, GA and Liam and Nicholas Laase of Hanscom Air Force Base, MA and many other nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 25th at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford.The family would like to extend their appreciation to Beacon Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Lucienne and family during her illness.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
