Lucien A. Roy, 92, of Sanford passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 10, 2014 with his wife and family by his side at St. Andre's Nursing Home in Biddeford. He was born in Newmarket, NH on March 28, 1922 to Joseph and Emma (Bolduc) Roy. He was the second oldest of 11 children and is survived by 2 sisters, Jeanette Stapleford of New Britain, CT and Julliette Dewing of Barrington, NH.He served in the Navy during WW II from 1942-1945 where he served as a Motor Machinist Mate 3rd Class on the Liberty Ship and sent to many different ports of call, some of which were London England, North Africa, Belgium and Ireland to name a few. He was honorably discharged earning the WW II Victory Medal, Amphibious Force Insignia, and the European African Middle East Theatre Medal.He married Yvonne Cabana from Sanford, ME in 1947 and would of celebrated their 67th year on Sept. 20th.Lucien worked at several shoe factories when he was younger and later retired in 1987 after 15 years from Cyro Industries where he worked in the Color Lab and was a member of the Fire Brigade.Lucien was a devout Catholic and had been a communicant of St. Ignatius Parish. He was an avid "do it your selfer" and was always seen working around the house which he built with his wife in 1958. He was a "Jack of all Trades" and would attempt to fix any vehicle he and his children's owned.Lucien was predeceased by his son Raymond A. Roy of Acton, ME in 2010, who was married to Pat (Jewett)He is survived by his wife Yvonne and his 5 children : Danny and Ginny (Bradford) Roy of Lebanon, Me, Dennis and Noelle (Boisvert) of Sanford, Carole and Hyo Kim of Olympia, WA, Sandy and Mike Tovey of Sanford, Nancy Roberge of Waterboro. He has 14 grandchildren: Jason Roy, Dawn Howard, Brian Roy, Kimberly Roy, Allison Lingard, Jon Roy, Michelle Roy, Jennifer Kim, Kristie Kim, Kevin Kim, Christine Tovey, Kellie Tovey, Jered Roberge, Aundrea Roberge and 4 great grandchildren and one on the way.Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 2 to 4PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church. Burial with military honors will follow at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations in his memory to the St. Thomas School, Scholarship Fund, 69 North Ave., Sanford, ME 04073.Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com
