Portland- Louise V. Crooker, 86, formerly of Portland died Friday, June 10, 2016 following a long illness. Louise was born in Portland, Maine on August 10, 1929 the daughter of the late Millard E. and Hazel P. (Cain) Morton. On September 3, 1949, Louise married Edward E. Crooker and together they made their home and raised their family in Portland. She worked full time as a wife and mother, staying home to raise their three children. Once the children were grown, Louise went to work as the rectory housekeeper at the Cathedral, a job she kept for more than fifteen years. In her spare time she was an active member in the Emblem Club in the order of Elks, and active in the PTA all during her childrens school years. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, dances, and reading autobiographies. Louise was also a long time member of the St. Lawrence Congregational Church on Munjoy Hill. She was predeceased by two brothers Roland and Stanley Morton, and a grandson Matthew Shaw. She is survived by two daughters; Rosemary Shaw of Portland, and Donna and her husband Joseph Rosario of New Hampshire; a son Edward Jr. and his wife Dorie Crooker of Portland; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Seal Rock Health Care in Saco for the exceptional care and kindness given to their mother over the past three years. Visiting hours will held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 from 10:00am to 11:00am at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway. A service will follow at the Chapel at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Forest City Cemetery, South Portland.
