Lorraine J. Libby

lorraine libby
Springvale - Lorraine J. Libby passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on August 31, 2010 at the age of 73.She was born in Sanford on June 6, 1937, the youngest of four children born to Wilfred and Adrienne (Pelletier) LaVallee. She grew up in Sanford, Maine, where she attended Saint Ignatius High School. Although she lived in many towns across the state, she spent the majority of her life in Acton. From Acton she then moved to Shapleigh and lived there for about nine years. A year ago she moved into her Springvale apartment, which was across the street from the business her son, Dana, owns allowing him and his family to watch over her. He would often see her looking out the window and keeping an eye on him too!!She was feisty at times and had a great sense of humor - she was always cracking jokes. She was the wise guy in the room who had a comeback in a split second. She was a loving, caring and devoted mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and playing Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit and cards with them. Her family brought as much joy, love, and laughter into her life as she did into ours. She was extremely proud of her two sons, Dana & Lewis - both having successful businesses of their own. She would be the first one to pipe right up when anyone asked what they did for a living - such a proud Mama! The stories she would tell of her sons in their younger years were often ones of mischief. Becoming a Memere was a dream come true - she finally got her girls! She enjoyed and cherished every minute with her granddaughters and great-grandson and would spoil them when their parents weren't looking - or so she thought! She especially adored her great-grandson and would brag to everyone she could about her little Casey. The big joke in the family was oh sooo many K's. Kathy, Kerry, Katey, Casey, Kelley and Chrissy, She had a lot of "Ka" in those names! We would laugh so hard when she would try to say one of our names because it would always come out as "Ka, Ka, Ka". We would all answer and laugh!!What beautiful memories she has given us, making us laugh right to the end! Two granddaughters, Kerry and Katey, laugh about the times she would take a nap and snore, which made them laugh causing her to wake up and ask, "What's so funny?" And then there are the sleepovers, their handprints on her clean windows, the many songs she would sing to them and the elves that came in with the rainbows. She certainly has given all of us many memories to cherish for the rest of our lives. She will be sadly missed, but will be forever in our hearts.Lorraine was predeceased by her brother, Roland LaVallee, of Wells and her brother-in-law, Claude Morin, of Freeport. She leaves behind her oldest son, Dana Libby and his wife Kathy Libby, of Springvale along with two granddaughters, Katey Libby and Kerry Neal and her husband Richard Neal, and great-grandson, Casey Dana Neal; her youngest son, Lewis Libby and his wife Chrissy Libby, of Shapleigh, along with a granddaughter, Kelley Libby.
