Lorraine M. Bonti
Lorraine M. Bonti, 82, of Sanford, died on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford. Lorraine was born on October 17, 1934 to Edouard and Eva (Beland) Mathieu in Sanford where she grew up and attended local schools, graduating from St. Ignatius High School. Following graduation she enrolled in St. Mary's School of Nursing where she not only earned her nursing degree but also met her husband. Lorraine and Alfred Bonti were married in 1957 and together they raised five children and shared nearly 60 years of marriage. During her working life Lorraine was employed as a nurse at Goodall Hospital. She went on to work as the town nurse and welfare director for the Town of Sanford where she stayed for 21 years before retiring at the age of 60.Lorraine and her husband liked to travel and had wintered in Florida for 14 years. She enjoyed flower gardening and sewing and had been a member of the Red Hat Society while she was in Florida and of the Ladies of Saint Anne in Sanford. She was a devout Catholic and had been a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish where she had served as a lector, a Eucharistic minister and had sung in the choir. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who always treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a genuinely sweet and caring woman who devoted her life to caring for others.Surviving are her husband Alfred, Bonti of Sanford; five children, David Bonti and his wife Gina of Springvale; Anthony Bonti an d his wife Claire of Sanford, Kathleen Hutchinson and her husband Garland of Sanford, Angela Morse and her husband Donald of Lyman and Peter Bonti and his wife Debbie of Kennebunk; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; eight siblings, Yvonne Porell, Patricia Melanson, Annette Caron, Ronald Mathieu, Richard Mathieu, Roger Mathieu, Monsignor Rene Mathieu and Real Mathieu and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday, March 26th at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home located at 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at10:00 AM on Monday, March 27th At St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford.
