Lorne Parent, Jr

CAPE ELIZABETH - Lorne Parent, Jr., 83, died on September 11, 2014, at St. Andre's nursing home in Biddeford. He was born in Van Buren, the son of Lorne Parent, Sr. and Yvonne Guerrette. He attended school in Van Buren and St. John's Prep in Danvers, Massachusetts and graduated from Ricker College in Houlton, with a bachelors degree in Business Administration. Mr. Parent served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 and was honorably discharged. His career experience included management of the Parent Brothers family business, self-employment as a Mobil Oil distributor and owner of a local retail store. He was the President of the Chamber of Commerce in Van Buren, a member of the Rotary Club, Post Commander of the local American Legion and a fourth degree Knights of Columbus. In 1983, Mr. Parent moved his family to Portland, where he was employed in various capacities. He was a communicant of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Cape Elizabeth and served as Eucharistic Minister for many years. He was very active in the Charismatic Renewal and served on the State of Maine Charismatic Service Committee for five years. Mr. Parent is pre-deceased by his sister, Ruth and grandson, Josh. He is survived by his wife Ancilla of 57 years, his four children and their families: Lorna and Fletcher Missud, Donna Betts, Jennifer and Eric Giguere, and Doug and Annette Parent, 10 grandchildren, his brother James Parent and his wife Loretta Grimm of Hampton, New Hampshire and his sister Marlene Beaghen of Charlotte, North Carolina. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a 9:00 a.m. Tuesday Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bartholomew Church, 8 Two Lights Road, Cape Elizabeth. Burial will be at Maine Veteran's Cemetery in Augusta. Arrangements by Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway South Portland. Dear Ancilla and family, Please accept my sincere sympathy at the death of Lorne. I have very fond memories of him when we formed the Charismatic Prayer Group in Van Buren, so many years ago. Since I now live in Wilmington, NC I will be unable to attend his funeral. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

My sympathies to you Ancilla and to your family at the loss of Lorne. I did not know that he was here in Biddeford at St. Andre Home. I am on the board there and our convent is next door. I am so sorry that I can’t go to the funeral, but know of my thoughts and prayers for you at this time.
