Lindsey H. Nye
Lindsey H. Nye, 71, of Shapleigh, died on May 09, 2018 at Lahey Clinic Hospital in Burlington, MA.He was born on July 9, 1946 to the late Harrison and Shirley (Roberts) Nye in Acushnet, MA. He attended school in Carver, MA. After high school Lindsey joined the Marine Corps. He served in Viet Nam in 1966-1967 earning the Silver Star and 2 Purple Hearts. Lindsey returned to the Marine Corps Reserves in Topsham, Maine, 1ST Battalion, 25th Marines. He retired from the Reserves after completing 34 years combined service. He served 1/25 as a Battalion Sergeant Major and retired as the Regimental Sergeant Major. He loved his country and the Corps.During his working life, he was employed by and retired from Genest Concrete. Lindsey was an avid rabbit hunter and raised beagles. He was very handy. So much so, that he built his house and barn, made furniture for his grandchildren and worked on some construction jobs during his retirement. He also enjoyed gardening, traveling and riding motorcycles. He was a twenty year survivor of pancreatic cancer which allowed him to spend those years enjoying his life. Lindsey was quiet man who was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, and will be dearly missed. He is predeceased by his parents, brothers, Harrison "Butch" Nye, David "Buster" Nye and a sister Elizabeth Nye. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Susan Nye, a son, Chuck Nye and his wife Sara, of Farmington, ME, grandchildren Natalie, Reese, and Drew Nye, and siblings Janet Carr, and her husband Dan, Roberta Borger and her husband Dave, Frank Nye and his wife Joanne, Joanne Nye Richard Nye and Marvin Nye and his wife Pat. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday May 19 at 11:00 A.M. at Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St. Sanford.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Maine Children's Cancer Program, 100 Campus Drive, Scarborough, ME 04074.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.To leave a message of condolence click condolence tab at left.
