Linda Bear

January 15, 1947 ~ October 27, 2021
South Portland-Linda Ann Bear (Shaw), 74, completed the mission her heavenly Father sent her here to do. She passed from this life to eternal life, to return to him, and embrace her family in heaven on October 27, 2021-at her favorite Mercy Hospital.
She was predeceased by her father Arthur Shaw and mother Kathleen Tufts. Linda was born January 15, 1947 in Fort Fairfield, Maine. She graduated high school in 1965 and had an uncanny ability to find success with all the talents and gifts she had. Linda did everything with passion and was proud of the different careers she had.
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister left a beautiful legacy for us all to honor and hold onto forever.
She will be lovingly remembered by her amazing younger three brothers and two sisters and their spouses - Peter Hersom and wife Diane of Sachse, Texas; Mike Hersom and wife Shelby of Espanola, New Mexico; Martin Hersom of Bowdon, Maine; Martha Aldrich and husband Fletcher of Amarillo, Texas; Kathryn Higgins and husband Dan of Mapleton, Maine; her three beautiful daughters -- Kelly Martin of South Portland, Maine; Danielle Langille of Presque Isle, Maine; Abagail (Amanda) Smith of Bangor, Maine; her six very treasured grandchildren -- Nicholas Ellis of Easton, Maine; Alex Langille of Presque Isle, Maine; Aimee Ellis of South Portland, Maine; Melissa Langille of Presque Isle, Maine; Eden Martin of South Portland; Maine; Arianna Geiser of Orono, Maine; and her eight lovely Great Grandchildren-Zemo (Simon) Langille, Gavin Greene, Kaleb Langille, Zoey Linda Langille, Gwenyth Langille, Alayna Dickinson, Joy Langille, and Kait Ellis.
Anyone that knew her knows her family meant everything to her and in her eyes they could do no wrong. She was so proud of all of them. She had many meaningful relationships with uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends far and wide in the US and Canada. She was a true lover of life, through the good times and bad she lived, laughed, and loved. She loved to brag of her family. She was an avid reader of Stephen King and loved to take care of her plants. She loved Elvis Presley, Trump, and McDonalds, only family know these meanings to her. Her pleasant and kind personality was contagious to everyone she met and will never be forgotten, she was one of a kind. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to her, making afghans, knitting for family and, of course, handing out hundred dollar bills to her grandchildren. It gives us all comfort to know that her faith and relationship with God was strong, it gave her joy and fulfillment. She prayed for all of us to be shaped, protected, loved, and cared for. She is paving the path for her loved ones to follow and is watching over all of us always. When you think of her, celebrate the good memories you had with her. She will be missed beyond measure but we know she is dancing with Jesus in the sky. Thank you Lord for blessing us with her life. We loved you dearly, until we meet again, Linda, Mom, Grammie Bear, Mert.

My mom was woman of very strong faith. Her catholic faith and love for God were very important to her. She had a few rough years with her health but always put her trust in God and said to me many times that she would be ready when God called her home. On October 27, God needed her more than we did and I know he wanted her to come to heaven to be with him. My mom loved her children and grandchildren more than herself. Even when we did wrong, she always saw the good in us. She never found fault and always had a good word to say. She was warm and kind. She loved deeply and no matter what, was always in our corner.
Over the past few years, I was blessed to be able to get to know my mother in a special way. Through her medical issues, she grew stronger in her faith and in her love for her family. Little thing made her happy.
Mom wanted to have a traditional catholic funeral and burial. It was very important to her and I am honored to be part of making that happen. I felt mom smiling down on us as Amanda, Danielle and I choose her resting place together at the cemetery. When we saw it, we all three knew it was the perfect spot for her and as daughters united we picked a beautiful place for her to lay in rest. Her spirit will remain with us and she will be waiting in heaven along with her mother and our grandmother that we all loved so much. Mom will be the angel that continues to watch over her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. You forever have a place in all our hearts and I love you to heaven and back. My wonderful memories and knowing you are at rest will keep me going until I see you again up in heaven.
Rest in peace my beautiful mother.
Your loving daughter, Kelly

Linda was my ex sister in law. During that time she was always good to me, taught me how to do things, and always willing to help family whenever and wherever needed! I remember the first time she took me to the Catholic Church in Maine Street! I never stood up and kneeled so much in my life! And certainly didn’t understand anything going on! (Being I was brought up United Pentecost) We had some laughs about this!! Man! She was a great cook, awesome seamstress and made my dress for me to wear to my brother Mike’s wedding!! She could do anything and always did an awesome job! To my nieces Kelly and Danielle, you girls were her life and she was so proud of both of you! So sorry for your loss! Love to you both and your families!
