Lillian Arsenault
L. Lillian (Bachand) Arsenault, 83, of Sanford died November 19, 2014 at Southern Maine Health Care in Sanford with loved ones by her side.Lil, as she was affectionately known, was born in Massachusetts on December 19, 1930. Shortly thereafter, she and her family moved to Springvale where she attended local schools. She married the love of her life, Harvey Arsenault on November 15, 1952 and stayed at home raising their four children before going to work as a cafeteria cook at St. Thomas School.Lil was very involved with the St. Ignatius Parish where she served as a Eucharist Minister, directed wedding rehearsals and taught CCD for many years. The St. Ignatius Parish and community were a big part of her life.As a loving and doting wife, mother and especially, grandmother, Lil loved spending time with her family. She was always up for company and talking over a cup of coffee- no matter who you were or what time of day it was. Her home was always open and she welcomed everyone in, saying "Pull up a chair!" Lil was a strong, determined woman with a very soft, warm heart who would do anything for anyone. She was always willing to try new things or have an adventure, but she very much valued tradition and instilled that in her family. Old, new, crazy or boring, Lil would do it if it made her children and grandchildren smile- that's what mattered most to her. Some of Lil's happiest times were spent at Wells Beach in the summer and eating lobster rolls at Forbes. She also enjoyed traveling, reading the paper, spoiling her rescued animals, going out for ice cream, playing cards and cooking- particularly Thanksgiving dinner- with her granddaughter, Megan. She was predeceased by her husband, Harvey and by their daughter Elaine.Surviving are her son, James Arsenault and his family: Karen, Laura, Tanya and Tabitha of Sanford; her son, Richard Arsenault of Santa Cruz, CA; her son, Michael Arsenault of Sanford; sister-in-law, Elsie Case of Springvale; five grandchildren: Megan , Kristen, Kendra, Julio and Harry; and many other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 29th at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church located on North Avenue in Sanford.
