Levina L. Carette

levina carette

June 1, 2020

She was born in Cape Bald New Brunwick, Canada She was the last survivor of 9 Children Married on 4/12/1947 to Marcel Carette who passed away on 4/5/2011. They had been married for 64 years. She passed away peacefully on 6/1/2020 at the home of her niece, Dawn Boyd and her husband John Boyd in Milton, NH.During her final two weeks with a long battle of cancer, we had care around the clock including help from nieces Brenda Adams and Janet Ducharme. Auntie also loved one of her caregivers who was known to her a Prayer Warrior, Renee Ames. You have heard it takes a village to raise a child; in this case, it takes a village to prepare someone to go home. We want to thank everyone who was here helping with the care for "Auntie". She was so appreciative. We want to thank Holy Rosary for the visits and prayers and communion and fellowship...you have no idea what that meant to her. We want to thank Nute Ridge Bible Chapel for loving on Auntie when she moved in with us here in Milton NH. She was so impressed by the outpouring of love that she received. The one thing she was the most proud of was being a Welder on the ships during WWII and the fact that her 7 brothers served a total of 99 years in the Military. She was so very proud of them. In her day, Auntie lived life to the fullest. She golfed, skied, swam laps at the local YMCA, went for long walks, and loved playing cards with friends and family. She also loved to travel, and loved tournament bean bag toss with her community in Alfred. She served in her Parish of Notre Dame for 64 years total with tasks such as, cooking for the priests, helping out prepping and serving for funeral breakfasts or brunches, she also read scriptures on Sunday morning as part of the Mass and helped serve communion. Her favorite pass time activities were crossword puzzles, reading mysteries and spending time reading her Bible and praying for others. The long discussions we had about Jesus will be something cherished forever. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who all adored her. One in particular, Owen Brown age 12 from TN who texted Memere every single day to check in on Auntie. He would ask, how is she, is she in pain, and is Jesus coming today to get her. (From the mouth and heart of babes.) Yes, Owen, today Jesus came for Auntie and she is now dancing on the streets of gold. Auntie also was a Mother and Auntie to many children in the neighborhood as we grew up. She never had children of her own, but you would never know that, by the out pouring of love from childhood friends and neighbors. She was a mother and Aunt to all who needed one. Her final days were faced with courage and boldness and determination. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 27...she was adamant that we all know that this was her favorite Psalm especially verses 4-6, 8. The one thing I ask of the Lord, the one thing I seek most - is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord's perfections and meditating in his temple. 5. For he will conceal me there when troubles come, he will hide me in his sanctuary, he will place me out of reach on a high rock. 6 Then I will hold my head high above my enemies who surround me. At his Sanctuary I will offer sacrifices with shouts of Joy, singing and praising the Lord with Music. 8. My heart has heard you say, "Come and talk with me." And my heart responds, "Lord, I am coming." A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, 66 North Ave, Sanford. Interment will be held on Friday, June 19 at 11:00 A.M. at Notre Dame Cemetery in Sanford.Due to social distancing if you are planning to attend services, please contact her niece Dawn at dawnemmab@gmail.com.
