Leones Huff, 91, a longtime resident of Waterboro, died May 20 at the Newton Center in Sanford.She was born in Waterboro on October 14, 1916, a daughter of Myron E. and Nellie (Andrews) Huff. She was a 1933 graduate of Waterboro High School and attended the Gorham Normal School.Her employment over the years was with General Electric in Limerick and the Waterboro Company leather tanning plant in Waterboro. She worked for 21 years for the Portland Press Herald as a business office clerk in the subscriptions department, retiring in 1981.Leones was a faithful woman. She was active for many years at the Grace Full Gospel Assembly in Westbrook where she was the organist, a youth worker, a Sunday School teacher and founder of the Busy Bees, a youth arts, crafts and bible study group. She later became a member of the First Assembly of God in Sanford and its successor, the Curtis Lake Christian Church, where she was active in its nursing home ministries.An excellent pianist, she had taught piano some years ago.She was predeceased by four sisters, Helen Crediford, Myrtle Huff, Alice Smith and Delora Huff.Aunt Lonie will be sadly missed by her three nephews, William Crediford of Alfred, Robert Smith of Waterboro, Carlton Smith of Groton, CT, her niece Kathleen Akerman of Hooksett, NH, and by her grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews.Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 noon at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A funeral service will be conducted at noon with Pastor Rick Leach of the Curtis Lake Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in South Waterboro.
