Leo Lunser
William Leo Lunser, 61, died Saturday evening, April 2, at his home with family by his side.He was born in Duluth, Minnesota on October 26, 1949 to parents Herbert Lunser and Rosalie (Kreimer) Lunser.Leo was an active member of the Sanford-Springvale community since his arrival in 1972. He once owned and operated L&B Variety Store. He later worked at Prime Time Video, and then Servpro for over 20 years. He was prominent in local community theatre throughout Maine and N.H., performing in and directing numerous plays over 35 years. He was passionate about "Hair: The American Tribal Love/Rock Musical", directing it several times. He founded and performed with the improvisational comedy group "E.J. Smackels". Leo was also an avid independent filmmaker, co-founding Gold Shoe Productions which recently released "Altering Conclusions". His last role was Scrooge in "Christmas Carol", this past December at the Little Theatre in Springvale.He was a sports fanatic who enjoyed rooting for the Boston Celtics and New York Yankees. He loved being outside and working in his garden. He cherished moments with his family who will remember his contagious smile and 28 varieties of Christmas cookies. Leo, also known as Peacefreak, will be remembered for being a free spirit, who espoused the ideals of peace, love, and unconditional acceptance. He was an inspiration and mentor to many.He is survived by his longtime partner Judy Burnett, her children Chris DeAguilar, Heather Daigle, Stephanie Jopling, and Judy's seven grandchildren; his children Racquel Lunser and Matthew Lunser, grandson Trae Ford, sisters Michelle Bradley and Lise Lunser, two nieces and a nephew.A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, April 7th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale.
