Leo A Harding

Leo Aloysius Harding passed away on December 27th 2024 in Sanford, ME at age 84. He was born in Salem, MA to Edward V. and Margaret (Fouhey) Harding. He was preceded in death by his brother Edward V. Harding Jr. and is survived by his sisters Ann Scott of Reading, MA, Sarah Dugas and husband Clyde (Bud) Dugas of Danvers, MA. Leo leaves two children, a son, Thomas Patrick Harding of Salem, MA and a daughter, Katie Harding Smith and Husband Matthew Paul Smith of Danvers, MA. As a Green Beret he was awarded The Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service in the Republic of Vietnam in 1964. After discharge he remained in the Massachusetts National Guard Airborne. For many years he worked for the Boston School department. He received an associates degree from Essex Agricultural College and a Bachelor's degree in Geography at Salem State. Leo was active in many of the city of Salem Athletic leagues; including softball, basketball and volleyball. He loved working with his hands and spent time doing carpentry. He was a great outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing with his buddies. He created a lot of fond memories camping with his family in New Hampshire and Maine. A private burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery Salem, MA.
