Laurie Lunnie
Laurie Laatz Lunnie, 52, of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2007 at York Hospital in York after a brief illness.Laurie was born in Portland on December 4, 1955 to Joyce Berry Laatz and Herbert C. Laatz, Jr. She grew up in Thomaston, Maine and was educated at local elementary schools and Kent's High School, graduating in 1974. In June 1983, she and her soul mate, Daniel J. Lunnie were married and raised two daughters.Mrs. Lunnie worked for 1st New Hampshire Bank for 10 years, Granite State Title, Fed-Co., Salmon Falls Precision Engineering, Wells Veterinary Clinic and Stateline Auto Auction. She later returned to school, attending Seacoast Career Schools and became a medical assistant. At the time of her illness, she was working as a pharmacy technician at Hannaford. She had waged a valiant and cheerful battle with breast cancer and was a joyous and grateful survivor. She was much loved by all who knew her and was a "second mom" to many of her daughters, friends. Laurie was predeceased by her father.Surviving are her husband, Daniel J. Lunnie of Lebanon; two daughters, Molly Lunnie of Jupiter, FL and Bar Harbor and Kelly Lunnie of Lebanon, Maine; her mother, Joyce Laatz of Yarmouth; an uncle, Ronald Berry of Bare Foot Bay, FL; her stepmother, Noreen Laatz of Thomaston; a stepbrother, Richard Vargas of Thomaston; two step sisters, Sharon Hanley of Rockland and Tracy Whitemore of Thomaston; a half sister Susan Laatz of Thomaston and a step niece, Rochelle Vargas of Thomaston.A period of visitation will be held on Friday, January 4, 2008 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with a funeral service being held at 2:00 PM at Carll Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale. Interment will take place in the spring at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Auburn.The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at York Hospital and Beacon Hospice for their kindness and the quality of care received during Laurie's illness.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to Susan G.
