Laurie E. Valley died unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
She was born February 6, 1964 in Biddeford, Maine to Paul H. & Elaine L. McCallum of Saco, Maine where she spent all of her childhood. Laurie attended Saco schools from K-12 with her diploma from Thornton Academy in 1984.
After graduating she did some traveling and settled back in Maine where she met and married Garrison K. Valley in 1988, lived in Sanford, Maine and raised three sons.
Her work experience included NIKE shoe in Saco, and retail store management at two convenience stores in Old Orchard and Sanford. Later became a certified nail technician for several years.
Her most important title was Mom. She not only raised their three boys but played a large roll as Aunt Laurie to her many nieces and nephews. She was known for her powerful singing voice, a listening ear, always willing to be part of a prank, family gatherings and the famous chocolate cream pie during the holidays. She will be fondly remembered by those who had the privilege to be part of her circle.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Garrison K. Valley, three sons, Caleb J. Valley of Sanford, Ethan K. Valley of Saco, Isaac G. Valley of Wells, many nieces and nephews from Dalton, Georgia, Reisterstown, Maryland, Sanford & Chester, Maine, and across the pond in England. Her brother Gary P. McCallum of Palmira, Maine and some cousins in the Saco, Maine region. She is predeceased by both parents, Paul and Elaine McCallum. Her final resting place will be determined by close family in the weeks ahead.
In lieu of flowers it is requested by the family that monetary gifts in Laurie’s honor be sent to the building program of Charleston Church South Coast at https://www.charlestonchurch.net/give to enhance the outreach to this and surrounding communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Visitation and Memorial Service will be held at Walker Funeral Home in Springvale, Maine on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 1:30 to 3:00 followed by a Memorial and Celebration of Laurie’s life.
Close Friends and Family will be welcomed at a light lunch reception at Charleston Church South Coast at 147 Summer St. in Kennebunk. Due to limited parking and seating please feel welcome to come and go in consideration of the family. The family will be grateful for your love, support & consideration during this event and beyond.
