Laurent Paquin
Laurent (Larry) Paquin, 87 of Sanford, passed Saturday, May 9th at Pinnacle Nursing Care from congestive heart failure. He was born in Sanford to Ludger and Aurore Paquin where he attended Notre Dame School in Springvale. He joined the army at 17 and attained the rank of sergeant. After the service, he married Marion Gray and worked for over 30 years as a dock worker for Adams / Auclair Trucking to support and raise his family.He was a devout Catholic and had been a communicant of St. Therese of Lisieux Parish in Sanford for many years. Larry enjoyed the old war movies and westerns, and coin collecting. He especially enjoyed walking and he did this every day. He was a proud Veteran and those daily walks usually included the V.A. Cemetary in Springvale and the cemetaries of his family members. He could always be found meeting with his buddies each morning at the Sunnyside Restaurant- where they would laugh and solve all the problems of the world. What he loved most was talking about his grand and great grandchildren, and hearing about what they were all doing. He especially loved watching the little ones running and playing at our family gatherings. He was a quiet and kind man - always a gentleman.He is predeceased by his 4 siblings - Dorothy, Cecile, Roger, and Donald and his grandson Jason King. He is also predeceased by a son in law, John Vachon.He is survived by his 7 children - Michael and Patricia Paquin, Linda Vachon, Paula Paquin and Joe, Sandra and Owen Martin, Lisa and Danny Lavigne, Timothy Paquin and Thomas Paquin.He leaves 12 grandchildren - Allison and Alex Levine, Wendy and Jason Glaude, Sabrina and Glen Mains, Erika and Nick Castellina, Russell and Beth Martin, Kassandra Martin, Owen James Martin, Jenni Bedell, Jessiey Bedell and Jason, Joshua Bedell and Sashia, Alyssa Paquin and Ethan Paquin - and his 7 special great-grandchildren - Micah, Jonah, Caleb, Keegan, Jayden, Gavin and Mckenzie.He will be dearly missed.A graveside service with military honors will be held at a later date at the Southern Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Springvale.Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com
