Larry E. Davis

Larry E. "Mike" Davis, 63, of Acton, died at home on Sunday, November 1, 2009. Mike was born in Lewiston on December 30, 1945 to Harold and Lillian Chick Davis. He grew up in Jay where he attended local schools. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two tours in Vietnam, earning a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. During his working life Mike was employed as a truck driver and worked for the Sanford Public Works Highway Department. He was also a volunteer fire fighter while living in North Yarmouth.Mike enjoyed reading and being around the house spending time with his family. He also liked traveling to visit lighthouses. He was very active in the American Legion. Mike will be remembered as a kind and loving father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his friends and family.Mike was predeceased by his parents and by his companion, Rhodena Edmonds.Surviving are his daughter, Martha Gamache and her husband Mark of North Yarmouth; a son Randy Davis; two granddaughters, Hannah Skye Davis and Bailey Lynn Willerson both of North Yarmouth; a sister, Nancy Davis of Coral Springs, FL; an aunt and uncle Shirley and Joe Dubord of Jay and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 14th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale.
