kimberly dilliner

March 6, 1967 ~ April 5, 2025

Born in: Portland, Maine
Resided in: Lewiston, Maine

Kimberly Dilliner, 58, of Lewiston, Maine, passed away on April 5, 2025.
Born on March 6, 1967, at Maine Medical Center, Kimberly was the beloved daughter of Allen and Jean Bowden. The middle child of three, she was a cherished sister to Joe and Matt.

Kimberly’s early years were shaped by life as part of a military family, moving frequently to follow her father’s Air Force assignments. At just six weeks old, the family relocated to Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rico, later living on bases in California, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and New York before settling in Portland, Maine, in 1978.

Outgoing and vibrant as a child, Kimberly loved swimming and even participated in beauty pageants by the age of three. She graduated from Portland High School in 1985, leaving behind a trail of friendships from each Air Force base along the way.

In 1987, Kimberly began working for the U.S. Postal Service, a career that spanned over three decades until her retirement in December 2023. Her dedication and bright spirit earned her many lifelong friends through her time at the Post Office.

Though more reserved in her later years, Kimberly remained someone who connected deeply with others. In 2008 she married Dennis Dilliner and they moved to Lewiston in 2017 and continued to enjoy her many passions: collecting dolls, reading horror fiction, watching scary movies, and listening to the music of the ’70s and ’80s. She had a sharp mind and a resilient heart.

Kimberly is survived by her husband, Dennis Dilliner; her son, Joshua J. Bowden; her grandson, Vincent Bowden; her mother; and her brothers, Joe and Matt. She was predeceased by her father, Allen.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Central Maine Medical Center, especially Dr. Tang, for the compassion and care shown to Kimberly during her time there.

She will be deeply missed by her family, her friends and all those who had the joy of knowing her.

Guestbook

  1. Words cannot express how sad this has made me over the past week. I keep thinking this is a bad dream. I will always miss you.

  2. Dear Matty,
I’m so sorry for you and your family. Kim will leave a hole in your hearts forever! Remember, the price of grief is loving someone dearly. I’m praying for you all!
    Love,
    Donna Jones

  3. Kim, I’ll always remember listening to records and the radio with you and singing along when we were kids. And all the visits we made by car with Mom and Dad and baby Matthew to Nana and Grampy’s and Grammy and Papa’s houses And whenever we moved to a new airbase, we’d always seek out the nearest playground, and you’d try to match me on the swing sets and slides, even though you were almost five years younger. No, I’ll never forget those days. Love you.

  4. I worked w/Kim at the PO. She had a quick wit, sharp mind & an amazing memory, especially when it came to music. We shared stories w/each other about raising an “only” child (she had a son, me a daughter), food (we both loved to eat) & being similar in age, the 70s! My heart goes out to Kim’s brother, Matt (who I’ve also worked with) & all of Kim’s family & friends, but most of all Kim. So young, barely retired, just so very sorry. 💔

  5. I am so sorry 💔. A lot of my best memories of working at the PO were with Kim. She lit up the room and kept us entertained 🤣. I am smiling just thinking about her. I am truly sorry for your loss and sending you love and hugs. May she rest in peace.

  6. Kim, you will be truly missed. I remember working with you at the post office. If I ever wanted to know where you were I just listened for your laugh. I knew right where to find you. I’m sorry you didn’t get a long retirement. The angels got a great lady. Rip out friend.

  7. This is so unbelievable to us. Our hearts break for the loss of Kim. We still have not wrapped our heads around the thought of your incredible loss. Please accept our condolences and know that her family is in our thoughts. Matt we are so sorry. Kim was beyond special. We are sorry…enjoy your memories. I am sure she will always be by your sides. Stay strong for each other.

      • We are very sorry that Kim has transitioned from this world as we were hopeful she would be singing those songs for many more years…she was a teen when we met ..recall how loving she was with her little baby when we visited them at the hospital…it all went by ..so fast…much love to Kim’s family as you all handle this difficult time

  8. Can’t believe Kim is gone. I worked with her at the PO when she started. She was so much fun to work with; I liked her right away. We went our separate ways with different jobs through the years but always caught up when we ran into each other. Matt I’m so very sorry for you and your family. ❤️❤️
