Kevin L. Beattie

November 21, 2020
Kevin L. Beattie, 63, of Springvale, died on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Maine Medical Center in Portland following a long battle with cancer.Kevin was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on March 9, 1957 to Aaron and Jeannine (Roussin) Beattie. In 1978 he married Melinda Melanson and together they raised four sons and shared 42 years of marriage. Kevin always took pride in providing for his family. He was employed for 25 years at CYRO in Sanford and had worked for the past 15 years at ContiTech in Somersworth. He had been very involved with youth athletics while his boys were growing up, coaching many of their teams. He also loved to play poker, especially Texas hold 'em with family and friends. Kevin was a devoted husband and father before all else. He was a shining example of what a family man should be and leaves behind many fond memories that will be cherished. Kevin's family would like to share some of their favorite stories and memories to illustrate what an incredible person that he was. Just the other day I looked at my father, it was the first time I saw he'd grown older. Canyons through his skin and the rivers that made them carve the stories I was told. He said son, "When I was younger I remember traveling around the world like so many other military kids to Paris and Thailand among other stops. My sister, brother and I made the best of it being so far from all that we knew. That water balloon fight on Water Day in Thailand was awesome, Diane and I throwing them at passerby's and Brian with the hose Haha! When I first saw your mother walking down the hallway of the school I said to my friend "I'm going to marry that girl!" And I did! Your mother always wanted a girl but, I'll tell you what, having four boys was amazing. All the sporting events and papoose pond trips, even though I always said I hated camping, I loved that it made you happy! Remember that time the whole family went on vacation to Las Vegas for your mothers 50th? That was one of the best times in my life! Day trip to the Grand Canyon, that huge family dinner at PF Chang's, everyone dancing and singing at the piano bar in New York New York, Damn that was fun! You know, your mother and I were nervous about being empty nesters but we found it wasn't so bad! We could spoil our grand kids and send 'em home. Every time they left we were reminded that we must've done something right because those kids are wonderful! If you knew Kevin, you knew that he was strong willed (even stubborn at times), one of the hardest workers you'd ever met, as tough as nails, would do anything for his family and whether you agreed with him or not at the very least he earned your respect! He was very much loved and will be missed by many!Kevin was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey Beattie and by his father, Aaron Beattie.Surviving are his wife, Melinda (Melanson) Beattie of Springvale; his mother Jeannine Beattie of Westbrook; three sons, Jason Beattie and his wife Stephanie of Buxton, Scott Beattie and his partner Emily of Stratham, New Hampshire and Jonathan Beattie and his partner Jessica of Acton; a daughter-in-law, Jennie Beattie of Shapleigh; seven grandchildren, Bryce, Brayden, Drew, Emery, Austin, Alli and Ayla and two siblings, Diane Kimball of Springvale and Brian Beattie and his wife Patty of Westbrook.Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday, November 29th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, located at 580 Main Street in Springvale.
