Kermit O. Gerry, 77, of Waterboro died in Sanford on Friday, October 5, 2007.Mr. Gerry was born in Brownfield, Maine to Audley and Bernice Woodard Gerry on January 27, 1930. He grew up on a farm in North Waterboro and attended local schools. He worked most of his life in the lumber industry working at Johnson Lumber and then at Hurd Lumber until his retirement. He served his country in the Army Reserves for many years.Kermit was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, camping and snowmobiling. He liked dancing, listening to country music and watching stock car racing. He also made it a point to attend the Fryeburg Fair every year. Mr. Gerry was an animal lover. He was particularly fond of his cat, Brat. He enjoyed working around his house and took great pride in maintaining his property, which he referred to as "Cathedral in the Pines." Mr. Gerry was a very social person and enjoyed having people come over to his house. He also got a lot of enjoyment attending family functions and get-togethers. He will be remembered as a kind and loving uncle and brother and will be dearly missed by his friends and family. Mr. Gerry was predeceased by a brother, Chauncey Gerry.Surviving are a brother, Keith Gerry and his wife Virginia of North Waterboro; two special nephews, Tony and Colin Gerry of North Waterboro; many other nieces and nephews and special friends, John and Sandy Cote, Ron Prevoir, Eleanor Stearns and Roger Johnson.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 12th at the North Waterboro Community Baptist Church in North Waterboro. Interment will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery in North Waterboro. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, Inc. 1 Main Street, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
