Cumberland - Kenneth George Forsythe, 74, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Jan. 20, 2024.
Ken was born on February 28, 1949 in Medford, MA, the son of Elmer and Agnes (Parsons) Forsythe.
Ken met his wife at Centre Methodist Church in Malden, MA; they then married on May 22, 1971. After approximately 30 years with The New England Mutual Life Insurance Company, he retired to Maine with his wife to be closer to friends and family.
Ken had an unfiltered sense of humor; he brought laughter and smiles to any occasion, whether it was appropriate or not. He was always the life of the party, telling jokes from behind the bar.
Ken found joy in reading, singing, and playing guitar. He liked folk music and often went to live performances. He also enjoyed golfing, tennis, bowling, and softball. He liked his annual trips to Mexico and Las Vegas and embarked on many cruises. Ken jokingly became known as the 'omelet king' for his breakfast-making expertise and was well known for his famous salsa. A fun and loving man, he played cards with his lifelong friends for over 50 years. He also gave back through his involvement in his church community. Throughout the years, he was an intricate part of the leadership at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in North Reading, MA, and later at the Tuttle Road Community Church in Maine.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Paula J. Forsythe of Cumberland; daughters, Susan Forsythe and her partner Gary Lombardi of Raynham, MA, and Kim and husband Brian Gallagher of Roslindale, MA. Brother Paul and wife Kathryn Forsythe of Reading, MA, and sister Joyce Curry of Merrimack, NH. Nieces and nephews, Kelly, Jillian, Dan and Adam.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 1 pm on Saturday, January 27th, at Tuttle Road Community Church, 52 Tuttle Rd., Cumberland, ME 04021. A reception will follow.
Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to Tuttle Road Community Church or to a charity of your choice.
I loved working with Ken on the Class Action project. It was like winning the lottery every day. I never worked so hard or had so much fun, all at the same time. Ken was the glue that held everyone and everything together. So inventive, so industrious, so funny.. He found sunshine when all we could see was rain. And he brought a smile to everyone’s faces with his cheery hellos and goodbyes, and his slightly off color way of telling stories. I loved when we had to travel. There was never a doubt that Ken would be driving. We would sail along the highway like we were in a big yacht and Ken was the captain of the ship. That is the same way we navigated the project. Ken will be missed but I will never forget him. He was a wonderful man and a good friend to many. To Paula, Kim and Susan, may his memory be a blessing.
We were at choir practice, it was my first day. We finished singing warmups, Ken turned to me and said “Well you don’t suck.”
I love you, I hope you did everything you wanted to do, and I hope you have no regrets. Say hi to my dad for me, try to keep him out of trouble.
I loved his sense of humor and his sarcastic wit, he made me laugh like no one else!
Ken & Paula were an example to me of what a good marriage should be. I looked up to them as role models for what I wanted out of my own marriage. They were amazing!
His smile….
That Ken made you feel better just by being in the room with him, it was his gift.
Funny, loyal, caring and giving.
He had a beautiful singing voice.

My favorite memories are singing in the choir with Kenny every Sunday. He was a wonderful man, always ready to give advice or just listen when I needed an ear. He will be deeply missed.
So sorry for your loss.Ken was such a wonderful man . Our prayers and love are with you during this very difficult time.
To my dear friends Paula, Susan and Kim.
I am so sorry for Ken’s passing. It was always so much fun when the Forsythe and Wilmot’s family got together. We will always keep Ken in our hearts and memories. We look forward to spending many more fun and memorable times together. We love you.
Love always,
Marian & Roger Wilmotp
I knew Kenny for all of my work years at New England Life/Metflife North. My deepest condolences to Paula, Susan Kim and all of Kenny’s family members. Kenny was entertaining, caring, and an overall class act. I will miss his honest and embellished stories and his original or stolen jokes. I enjoyed most playing softball and cards with him and hearing his daily mime readings of Dr Ruth’s column at our daily 6:00 Breakfast work gatherings. I know I speak for all our card playing, softball and work buddies. We loved you Kenny our memories with you will live on.
My deepest condolences to Paula, Kim, Susan, other family members, and his many, many friends. I played cribbage at NEL, and monthly poker games with Ken. He was truly an unforgettable person. So many laughs and memories. He will be greatly missed.
