Kathy A. Emerson, 57, of Sanford, died on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at her home in Sanford.She was born on May 28, 1961 to Lionel and Shirley (Hartford) Richer in Sanford, where she grew up and attended local schools, graduating from Sanford High School.After high school, she went to cosmetology school, and worked as a hair dresser with her mother at Shear's Delight Salon in Sanford. She took some time off to stay home with her young children. She then returned to work at Shaw's Grocery Store where she enjoyed working and made many friends over her nearly 20 year career. Kathy was creative and talented at many things and she enjoyed crafting, painting, gardening, and being outdoors four wheeling or motorcycle riding with her boyfriend Dan. She was an outgoing and fun loving person. She was sweet and compassionate, always thinking the best of others.She enjoyed her life, and being in her home on Mount Hope, where she recently proclaimed that "her heart was on the mountain". She loved her family and in particular being "Mimi" to her granddaughter Annalee. Kathy's faith was important to her and she had recently been baptized at Curtis Lake Church in Sanford. She is predeceased by her father.Survivors include her boyfriend Dan Bonney, her daughter, Sarah Emerson and her fiance Jared Kenney, of Sanford, her daughter Amber Emerson, of Kennebunk, her granddaughter, Annalee Kenney, her grandson, Spencer Thiboutot, her grandmother Eunice Beaudoin, her mother Shirley Richer-Woodman and her husband Harold, her sister, Diane Normand and her husband Mike, of Arizona, and brothers Danny Richer and his wife Sandy of Sanford, and Scott Richer and his wife Terri, of Sanford, as well as several nieces and nephews.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the benevolence fund at Curtis Lake Church, 38 Westview Dr., Sanford, ME 04073.A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Curtis Lake Church in Sanford.Arrangements are under the direction of Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home in Springvale.To leave a message of condolence click condolence tab at left.
