Karen A. Cavanaugh, 58, of Wells, ME, passed away on October 24, 2017. She was a loving mother of four children, son Robert Byrd and his wife, Dawn and their children, Rhyan, Owen and Palyn, her daughter, Renee, her son Michael and his wife Rossarin "Yo" and their son Desmond, and her daughter, Michelle. Her parents are Robert and Bernadette Thompson.Karen absolutely loved Maine and the outdoors where she enjoyed hunting and fishing. She was the type of woman who would take in any wild animal that was injured. Her favorite thing to do was to go to Turbats Creek, Kennebunkport, ME with her dog Missy, a 7-year old beagle. Missy was her prize possession and she was never seen going anywhere without her dog. Karen loved nature and knew of some great places which brought the love of her children and nature together creating lasting memories. When Renee and Rob were young, Karen would take them to Washington Crossing Park, Titusville, NJ, to enjoy the sound of the river flowing by, the cool breeze under the tall oak trees, and a tasty bucket of KFC.Everyone described Karen as a soul that brightened up any situation. She made people laugh and had a beautiful heart that would give more than what she could even afford to give. She enjoyed spoiling her grandson whom she had the pleasure of living with for 2 years. She saw the best in people and always made people feel loved and appreciated. In life and in passing, she will always be remembered for the fond memories that she left us with. We know that she will prosper in eternity and those that have been left behind will benefit from her life lessons. Her heart felt more than the average heart, it was a curse and a blessing. It's a shame she had her time here on earth cut short because she hadn't yet found her happiness here on earth. Yet, she brought so much happiness to others lives and will be truly missed by many and loved by all. Hopefully, now she has found peace and happiness in eternity."The heart of a mother is a deep abyss at the bottom of which you will always find forgiveness" - Honore de BalzacA Memorial Service will be held on Sunday October 29th at 2PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. Family and friends are invited to gather at the home beginning at 1PM.
