Justina DiMillo Ives

June 26, 1929 ~ August 19, 2018
Portland- Justina DiMillo Ives of Portland, Maine died after a very brief illness at Maine Medical Center on August 19, 2018 at age 89.
A native of her beloved Portland, Maine, Justina was the devoted daughter of the deceased Rose and Eugene DiMillo and sister to Mary Blessing, Adele Jackson, Jeanette Breggia, and brothers, John DiMillo and the late Tony DiMillo.
After 56 years of greeting customers, she retired in January 2018 from DiMillo's Restaurant. She enjoyed meeting people from around the world.
For nearly seven decades, she enjoyed preparing and serving Sunday pasta for her family and extended family. Everyone loved sitting around "Giusti's" dining room table.
Justina's family would like to extend their gratitude to the well-wishers who have described what Justina meant to them and a special thank you to the dedicated clinicians at Maine Medical Center for the care she received.
She was married to the late Richard Ives for sixty-three years. Justina was a devoted mother to her five children; Sharon Fournier, Jeanette Ives Erickson and her late husband Paul, Richard Ives, Gregory Ives and his wife Deanna Fagone Ives, and Judith Ives and her husband Alan Hoffert. She was grandmother to Catherine Conrod, Geanna Thibault, Charles Fournier and Elizabeth, Benjamin, Olivia and Nicholas Ives; great grandmother to seven, all of whom adored her as their "Mamooche". She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her marriage, family and friends defined this truly exemplary woman and she was loved by all who knew and cherished her.
"A mother holds their children's hands for a short time. She holds their hearts forever."
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 72 Federal Street, Portland. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
