June Margaret Doremus

FALMOUTH - June Margaret Doremus, 84, formerly of Delmar, New York, and Harwichport, Massachusetts, died Saturday January 21, 2012, in Falmouth June was born in New York City, NY, on June 12, 1927, a daughter of John and Margaret (Kean) Reilly and brother of Donald J. Reilly, deceased. She attended school in New York and was a high school graduate. June recognized the importance of education and ensured that her children graduated from college and received their master's degrees. June always was striving to improve herself and attended classes at several local community colleges and through Elderhostel, constantly looking for new challenges. She married Donald C. Doremus on June 23, 1950, in Forest Hills, New York, and devoted her life to home and family. She was a very active mother, enjoying camping in the summer and skiing in the winter with her family. June was a devout Catholic who was very active in parish life. She enjoyed arts and crafts including decoupage, ceramics, and painting. She was well known for her holiday decorations and especially looked forward to Christmas. She and Donald traveled throughout the world including Western Europe, North Africa, the Caribbean and many of the United States. She is predeceased by her husband who died October 27, 2008. She is survived by a son, Craig M. Doremus and his wife Diana Dowd of New Gloucester; a daughter, Lynne Giminiani of Albany, New York; and two grandsons, Scott and Randy Giminiani of Albany, New York. The family will be holding a private funeral Mass and burial at New Calvary Cemetery, South Portland, Maine. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Parish of the Holy Eucharist, 326 Main St., Yarmouth, Maine 04096.
