Joyce J. Bergeron

Joyce J. Bergeron, of Sanford passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones after a brief illness on October 12, 2022. She was born in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Hilda Hicks. She grew up in Corinna, ME, where she attended local schools. Joyce then moved to Sanford, where she was employed at local shoe and dress shops. In her later years she enjoyed working at Ames Department Store where she was manager of the craft department. She was a member of the local Amvets Auxiliary as well as the American Legion Auxiliary. In her younger years, Joyce enjoyed dancing and was quite good at it. Her family remembers her doing the Irish jig, the jitterbug, and other popular dances of the time. More recently, she enjoyed painting with oils, crafting and selling her crafts at fairs. She is survived by her daughters Cindy York of Waterboro and Michele Smith and her husband Robert of Sanford, her grandchildren Tony Charlton of Waterboro, Brandon York of Waterboro, Amanda Janes and her husband Justin of Waterboro, Jason Smith of Saco, and Lacey Smith of Chelmsford, MA, her great grandchildren Tyler, Dylan, Keira, Kinsley, Brynlee and Brielle, and longtime friend Tim Devlin. At time of visitation will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. with a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale.
