Josephine "Jo" Carolyn Janet DeHahn
June 22, 1940 ~ April 18, 2017
Scarborough - Josephine "Jo" DeHahn, 76, of South Portland, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
Jo was born on Merritt Island, FL, on June 22, 1940, the daughter of June (Fozzard) Libby. She grew up in Falmouth and graduated from Falmouth High School, Class of 1958. She was proud of the fact that she never missed a day of school in her high school years, and she always looked forward to the Falmouth High School Class of 1958 reunions.
From the time she was young, Jo loved children and looked forward to having children and grandchildren. Jo adored her grandchildren and would drive two hours or more to visit, babysit for them, or attend any of their events whenever she could. She was incredibly proud of their accomplishments. She loved to tell anyone she met about her experiences as a nanny to many children, and she would stop and talk to people with babies wherever she went. Jo had a huge heart which made her a great homemaker, nanny, and home health aid.
In recent years, Jo was very active in a number of different organizations. She belonged to the Singles Network/Circle of Friends for many years and enjoyed hosting dinners at various restaurants. She also was involved with the Cancer Community Center and Red Hats Society, both of which were very important to her. Being a people person, Jo enjoyed outings through the South Portland Community Center, as well as some from neighboring towns.
Jo recently became a member of Deering Center Community Church where she loved the fellowship of people from various walks of life.
She was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Whiting and her brother, Billy Libby. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Massengale and her husband Keith of ME; son, David DeHahn of ME; eight grandchildren, Drew and Kerigan Graham and their mother Kimberly Levesque, Matthew and Ashlee McIntosh, Kaydence and Dane DeHahn, and Lana and Keith Massengale; brother-in-law, Ken Whiting, Sr.; nephews Ken and David and their families.
Visiting hours will be held from 10:00AM-12:00PM, on Saturday, April 22, at the Deering Center Community Church, 4 Brentwood Street, Portland. A Funeral Service will follow in the church at 12:00PM. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.

My deepest sympathy for your loss. May Jehovah, the God of all comfort, strengthen and comfort you during this difficult time. He has promised to swallow up death forever, thereby wiping the tears from all our faces. (Isa. 25:8; 2Cor. 1:3) May these promises be a soothing balm for your heavy hearts.
