Joseph P. Rich

Joseph P. Rich, 92, of Waterboro, Maine, formerly of Revere, Massachusetts, died on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford.Joseph was born on June 7, 1925 to Andrew and Mary (Forcina) Rich in Little Falls, New York where he grew up and attended local schools before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17. He proudly served during World War II and received a Purple Heart for wounds received at Okinawa. After being wounded he was sent to recover at the naval hospital in Chelsea, Massachusetts where he met his future wife, Anne Litwin. During his working life, Joseph held several jobs before going to work at General Electric where he was employed for many years until his retirement.Joseph liked to work in his garden and to spend time at home with his family. He also enjoyed taking bus trips to Foxwoods and Atlantic City and traveling around New England with his wife. He loved being around his family and his friends and always liked to cheer on the Patriots and the Red Sox. Joseph will be remembered as a kind and loving man and will be dearly missed. Joseph was predeceased by his wife, Anne Rich, a daughter, Andrea Zaccaria and three siblings John Rich, Anthony Rich and Ursula Mastracco.Surviving a daughter, Mary Anne Hanson of Waterboro; two grandchildren, Salvie and Michael Zaccaria of Revere, Massachusetts and many nieces and nephews.Services for Joseph will be private.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider sending a memorial contribution to the Disable American Veterans, P.O.
