Joseph L. Morin, 90 years old, of Portland, ME, and formerly of Naples, FL died on Monday, May 14, 2007 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford.Joseph was born on July 29, 1916 in Westbrook, ME. He was the son of the late Noele and Lena Morin. He was educated by the Marist Brothers in Canada, and Poughkeepsie, NY, and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during WWII.In September of 1941 Joseph married his beloved wife Blanche and they began a family of their own.Joseph worked for a brief time at the Naval Shipyard in South Portland. Shortly after leaving the yard he began a career as an acoustical contractor, creating the J.L. Morin Company. The business grew to be one of the largest acoustical contracting firms in Maine.Joseph was a devout catholic and loved attending church. He enjoyed a healthy lifestyle of swimming, skiing, and simply staying active. Joseph loved to spend time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Family life was very important to him. You could also find Joseph outdoors feeding the birds, or quietly relaxing inside watching them .Predeceasing Joseph was a son Stephen M. Morin, a daughter Julie A. Pochebit, and two sisters, Gabriele Lemieux, and Angela Marier.Surviving is his loving wife of over 66 years Blanche Marier Morin, a son Paul D. Morin and his wife Suellen of Cape Elizabeth; three daughters, Cheryl M. Desmond and her husband Daniel of Portland, Anne T. Tarling and her husband Ernest of Sanford, Celine J. Pochebit and her husband Stephen of Medfield, MA, a brother Gerard Morin and his wife Pauline of Biddeford, 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.An 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Joseph at Holy Family Church, St. Therese Parish of Sanford, ME on Friday, May 18, 2007. Committal services will follow at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.In lieu of flowers the family suggest that Memorial Masses be said at St. Therese Parish of Sanford and Springvale.
