Joseph Latham

September 20, 1936 ~ February 3, 2026

Born in: Freeport, Maine
Resided in: Brunswick, Maine

Westbrook – Joseph Latham, 89, previously of Portland, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, at Mid-Coast Senior Living Facility in Brunswick with family members by his side. Joe was born on September 20, 1936, in Freeport, son of the late Peter Latham and Eva Mae Leighton.

He was raised on Peaks Island and always had a story to tell about growing up there. Joe was a hard worker and I don’t think he ever missed a day. Other than his fishing, he had no interest or time for hobbies. But one of his greatest joys was watching his children and then grandchildren play sports. He was a true family man and was always there when needed.

Joe was predeceased by his stepfather Harold Woodman; siblings, 5 sisters and 4 brothers; daughter, Lorraine; son, Joseph; and grandchildren, Brandi and Brian. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Michele; children, Betty; Felicia Chamberlain (Marc); Althea Palmer; Karl (Vickie); stepchildren Theresa (John) O’Malley; Al “Kip” Dyer (Nicole); Pam Madore (David); Frank Dyer (Heather) and Mike Dyer (Tory); sister, Joan Woodman Faulkner; and several grand and great-grand children; and many nieces and nephews.

Joe will be deeply missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Mid-Coast and Chans Hospice for their excellent care and support during this difficult time.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 11am – 1pm on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at The new Conroy-Tully Walker Cremation, Funeral & Gathering Center, 300 Allen Avenue, Portland. To view Joe’s memorial page or to leave an online condolence, please visit www.ConroyTullyWalker.com.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Thank you Joe for being the best bonus Dad ever! So many laughs through 50 years of being family. Godspeed sweet man. Love you 🩷

  2. So sorry for your loss may you always have great memories. Sending love and prayers
    Tammy ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏

  3. Joe was one of my favorite patients ever! He put a smile on my face every time I saw him. We always checked in about his beloved Yankees (mine too) and even more beloved grandkids. He taught me to never assume people could read or understand medical jargon. Michele, please know how much I always admired the loving support you provided Joe–and also the way he so obviously appreciated you. I am sure he will be missed by many–I am sorry for your loss.

  4. Sorry for the loss of your step dad. Memories will always be in your thoughts, love will always be in your heart.

  5. Aunt Michele and family,
I am so sorry for your loss! Joe was a good man. I’ll always remember my mother calling him “Kenny Rogers” because of his white hair. I’m sure he got a kick out of that! Love to you all!!! Paula

  6. My uncle Joe had such a big loving heart. I didn’t get to see him much living in KS, but my parents, Pete and Nadine Latham drove to Maine many times during my childhood.
I always felt his love during our visits. I’m sure my dad is happy to see him again in heaven! May God comfort you all !
