Joseph A. Cote
Joseph A. Cote, 81, of Sanford, died on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at St. Andre Health Care Facility in Biddeford surrounded by his family.Joseph was born in Sanford on June 24, 1932 to Francois and Louise (St. Cyr) Cote. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed at Eastern Plastics in the late 1950's and early 1960's. He went on to work as a short order cook at Jerry's Diner for several years until he had to leave due to declining health.Joseph was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed spending time at home with his family. He loved to cook for his family and friends and was famous for baking his rolls. He was a devout Catholic and had been a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church in Springvale. He will be remembered as a loving and compassionate man and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.Joseph was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Jeanne (Bannister), his parents, six siblings and one grandchild.Surviving are six children, Gary P. Cote and his wife Joanna of Sanford, Roger R. Cote and his wife Becky of Sanford, Jane M. Gagne of Sanford, Lisa C. Kienia and her husband William of Greenbush, Donna A. Michaud and her husband James of Bradley and James A. Cote of Bradley; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 AM with a funeral service following at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 13th at Lafrance-Lambert and Black Funeral Home located at 29 Winter Street in Sanford.
