Joseph Raoul Albert, 77, of Sanford, took his journey to Heaven on November 23, 2008 with his childrren by his side.Joseph was born in St. Agatha, Maine on September 24, 1931 to Patrick and Edith Chasse Albert and attended local schools. He was raised in Madawaska and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1950. While in the military, he served in Germany and Aberdeen Proving Grounds. During Joe's lifetime he worked at machine shops in Connecticut and was a business owner in Madawaska. In 1992, he retired to Sanford where he enjoyed volunteering at various social service agencies helping the underprivileged.Joseph had been a member on the Kiwanis and Key Clubs while living in Madawaska. He enjoyed square dancing and playing his guitar and singing for family and friends. Joseph liked going fishing and doing outdoor activities. He had recently taught his grandson Colby how to fish and beamed with pride when Colby caught his first trout. When he was younger, he spent a lot of time raising money for the American Heart Association in support of advances in heart surgery that helped to benefit his daughter Robin. On Sundays, Joseph often took rides to Topsham where he would enjoy visits with his daughters and their families. Joseph will be remembered as a kind and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family and friends and his companion of 12 years, Chi Chi the Papillion.Surviving are a son, Roland Albert and his wife Linda of Bristol, CT ; three daughters, Robin Albert of Madawaska, ME, Carol Clark and her husband Gordon of Topsham and Tina Pollock and her husband Danny of Topsham ; five grandchildren, Steven and Keith Albert of Bristol, CT, Kaycie and Sydni Clark of Topsham and Colby Pollock of Topsham ; one great-granddaughter, Sierra Elizabeth Albert of Bristol, CT.A period of visitation will be held from 8:00 to 9:30 AM on Wednesday, November 26th at Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street in Sanford . A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312 or the Disabled American Vetrans Memorial Program, P.O.
