In Loving Memory of
Jonathan Paul Loring
Born in Portland, Maine — April 16, 1947 | Passed Away October 15, 2025
With heavy hearts and endless love, we share the passing of Jonathan (Jon) Loring a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Born and raised in Portland, Maine, he was the youngest of four children born to Hiram F. Loring and Mary Elizabeth Gould and graduated from South Portland High School in 1965.
In 1967, he married the love of his life, Paula Ann Greenlaw and together they built a beautiful life that spanned 58 years of laughter, devotion, and unconditional love.
A man of remarkable grit and determination, Jon worked as a machinist for more than 40 years. He took immense pride in his work and in providing for his family, never shying away from a long day or a tough challenge. His dedication, humility, and quiet strength inspired everyone who knew him.
He was a lifelong sports fan — he loved watching games, placing a friendly bet in the sports section, and hitting the golf course whenever he could. But he was also a man who loved to learn. Trivia fascinated him — especially anything about U.S. presidents — and he rarely missed an episode of Jeopardy!. He had a sharp mind, a quick wit, and an incredible memory for facts, names, and history that always amazed his family.
Above all else, Jon loved his family. He was endlessly proud of his children and adored his grandchildren. His love for Paula was steadfast and inspiring — a true partnership built on respect, humor, and deep affection.
He will be remembered for his kindness, humility, and heart of gold. His strength carried his family through good times and hard ones alike, and his love will continue to guide them always.
Jon is survived by his beloved wife Paula. His children Lee Larochelle, Jill Loring and Jona Pillsbury (Andy)
His cherished grandchildren Anna, Tatum, Cedric, and Paula-Rose Larochelle. Madison and Spencer Houlette, Molly and Josie Harlow, Ella and Simon Pillsbury, Great grandson, Hazen, sister, Jean Weymouth and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Fred “Jigger” and Richard Loring.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home of Portland, 300 Allen Avenue from 1:00pm to 3:00pm onThursday October 23, 2025 where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the man who meant so much to so many.

Jon and I first met at The Reece Corp. in Gorham Maine. We quickly discovered that we
had many things in common. We both loved to play and follow all sports , but we especially
looked forward to the end of the year golf tournament. We always had the same foursome.
It was Lenny London, Kevin Curty, myself and Jon. The results were always the same.
Lots of fun and a couple beers. I will miss Jon’s sense of Humor as much as anything.

Been wanting to write on your obituary for weeks, but I end up reminiscing about all our adventures as kids. You’ll always be my best friend.
Rest in peace, my brother. I say your name every night, Jonathan. As long as I say your name, you will never be forgotten.
