John Tuttle Sr.

John A. Tuttle Sr., 86, of Sanford, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the Greenwood Center Nursing Home. He was born in Portland on May 19, 1922, a son of Martin and Eveleen (England) Tuttle. Mr. Tuttle served in the US Army during WWII.On October 27, 1951 he married the former Arline Reid in Alfred. For many years he was employed by Universal Shoe and retried from WASCO. He was a member of the Lafayette Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a fan of the Red Sox as well as the Patriots.He is predeceased by one son, Roland J. Tuttle "Butch", who passed away in 1971 and one daughter, Joanne Tuttle Folgio, who passed away in 1992.He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Arline J. Tuttle of Sanford, a son, John A. Tuttle Jr., of Lebanon, a daughter, Beverly Tuttle Martin of Waterboro, four brothers, Maurice Tuttle, Richard Tuttle, Harry Tuttle and William Tuttle, four sisters, Rosie Tuttle, Betty Bernier, Beatrice Sevigny and Lena Campbell. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 23rd at 1PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
