John WinthropPhilbrick,Sr.,78, died October 20, 2015 in Florida. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2PM on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at State Street Church, 159 State Street, Portland. Parking is available at the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Choral Art Society, 50 Monument Square, 2ndFloor,Portland, ME 04101.

Hi, While at Waynflete in the 50’s I lived on Lindenwood Rd. My parents wanted me to learn to play bridge before I went to college (a choice they came to regret) so they would ask John to come and be the fourth while I learned. What patience he had! He also was great to hear as part of the Meddies at Bowdoin house parties. Then, John ended up at Ft Eustis, VA after I was married and living in Williamsburg. It was so good to see someone from home! I was in VA til ’94 , so didn’t see a lot of John, but his kindness in the bridge department will always be remembered. My sympathy to your family.
