John M. Jeffries

John M. "Jack" Jeffries, 92, of Springvale, passed away on Tuesday January 23, 2007 at the Newton Center in Sanford. He was born in Bristol, PA, one of six children on November 1, 1914, a son of Melvin and Mary Frances Jeffries.During WWII Jack served his country in the Navy. He traveled on an aircraft carrier, the USS Ranger. During his years of employment he developed training films for the military.Jack and Josephine came to Sanford from Pennsylvania in 1958 where he was employed by Wasco Products and then American Cyanimid. For the past 62 years he had been a member of the American Legion Post in Bristol,PA. Currently he was a member of the North Parish Congregational Church in Sanford.He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Josephine M. (Gaston) Jeffries of Springvale, one daughter, Barbara Jo Ryan and her husband, Francis of Medway, MA, one grandson, Jonathan Ryan of Maynard, MA, as well as several nieces and nephews. Due to extenuating circumstances visitation and funeral services previously scheduled for Friday January 26 have been postponed.
