John L. "Jack" Heigelmann, 63, of Acton, died October 7 at home after a courageous battle with kidney disease.He was born in Bridgeport, CT on May 30, 1943, a son of John L. and Doris (Banta) Heigelmann, Sr. and attended school in Connecticut. He was a veteran of the US Navy.He was employed in food service most of his life.Jack touched many lives with his caring personality, love of music and incredible cooking abilities. He loved to entertain, providing a wonderful meal, and as an accomplished musician, also played the music to accompany it. In his younger days, he shared his love of entertaining on the road, touring the country. Jack was at his happiest when he was helping others.He was predeceased by his parents and by a younger brother, William M. Heigelmann.Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Carol (LaDuke) Heigelmann of Acton, 2 sons, Scott Heigelmann and his wife Bridget of Boston, MA, Nicholas H. Heigelmann and his fiancee Erin Powers of Boston, MA, 2 sisters, Laura Liuzzo of Watertown, CT, Diana Bromley of Camden, AR, a brother, Daniel Bromley of Milford, CT, an aunt and uncle, Charles and Ruth Banta of Charlestown, NH, several nieces, nephews and cousins, and a close family friend, Dennis Andrews of Augusta.Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, where a funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Acton.Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Somersworth Dialysis Patient Services Fund, 252 Route 108, Somersworth, NH 03878.
