John E. Charette
John Edward Charette, 73, of Alfred Maine died on February 1st at Maine Medical Center in Portland resulting from a tragic accident. John was born and raised in Sanford, Maine to parents Edville and Alice Charette. He grew up on Errol St, attended Holy Family School and graduated from St. Ignatius High School, class of 1959. He meritoriously served 21 years and retired from the U.S. Air Force in Denver, Colorado. With Angie, his wife of 54 years, they owned and operated Lakeside Sport and Marine on Lower Mousam Lake, in Shapleigh for 17 years from 1983-2000.John was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a man of deep character who was admired and sought out by many for his selfless acts of kindness, advice and assistance to others He is survived by his wife Angie, three sons, eight grandchildren and two sisters: son John and his wife Lorrie of Nashville, TN; grandchildren Jacob and Rachel; son Steve and Renee of Amesbury, MA; daughter-in-law Denise of Wells; grandchildren Ryan and Jason; son Scott and his wife Sherri of Scarborough; daughter-in-law, Karen of Scarborough; grandchildren Ethan, Lucas, Mason and Connor; and, sisters Beatrice Long and Bette McGlincey both of Sanford, Maine.Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 5 to 7PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church.
