Joan Walker
Joan A. Walker, 74, of Lyman passed away following a brief illness on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at the Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford. Joan was born in Sanford on November 18, 1936, a daughter of Leo and Hazel (Butler) Bernier. She attended local schools, graduating from Sanford High School.For many years she had been employed at Fairchild Semi Conductor in South Portland. She then worked at the York County Courthouse.She was an avid camper and liked playing beano and bocce ball, boating and snow mobiling. Joan will be remembered as a loving, mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother and will be dearly missed by her friends and family.She is predeceased by her husband, Percy Walker and her father, Leo A. Bernier.Joan is survived by her sons, Brian Walker and his wife, Susan of Old Orchard Beach, Bruce Walker and his wife, Wendy of Signal Mountain, TN and Brent Walker and his wife, Tamara of Windham, her mother, Hazel Bernier of Kennebunk, eight grandchildren, Scott, Andrew, Brianna, Katrina, James, Shannon, Danielle and Jennifer, and six great grandchildren, Bligh, Aubrey, Marissa, Mason, Zelda and Emily.Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 5 to 7PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
