Joan L. Corale

Joan L. McGrath Corale died at home November 1, 2006 surrounded by her family, after a long illness.She was born on July 10, 1946 in Sanford, ME. She was the daughter of the late William J. and Odile Godin McGrathJoan was a lifetime resident of Sanford, and was educated in Sanford schools. She worked in local shoe shops, including Thomas and Betts for fifteen years. For the past six years Joan worked at the Mayflower Place, but had to retire due to her illness. She loved to go fishing with her grandchildren and watch them play sports. She also enjoyed walks around the Number One Pond.Predeceasing her are here parents and a younger sister.Joan is survived by three adopted sons, Tony, Joseph, and Brian McGrath of Sanford; Tony whom she lived with; seven grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Nichole, Emily, Briana, Nathaniel, and Tyler McGrath; four brothers, Paul and his wife Sue, William Jr., John and his wife Debbie, Mike and his wife Shauna; three sisters, Diane Stone and her husband David, Sandra St.Jean and her husband Raymond, Elaine Dubois, dear friend Gale McGrath, in-laws, Tracy and Jill McGrath all of Sanford. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.Visiting hours for Joan will be held Friday, November 3, 2006 from 2 to 4 PM for family and 6 to 8 PM for the public at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St. Sanford, ME. A 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November the 4th at St. Ignatius Church for Joan. Committal services will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.The family suggest memorial donations be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950.
