Jerome R. Deschambeault

Jerome is survived by his beloved wife of forty-four years, Janet Deschambault, his loving daughters and sons-in-law, Michele and Brian Bernier, Nichole and Aaron Tremblay, and Christine and Tim Dabrieo, and his treasured grandchildren, Matthew Bernier, Catherine Bernier, Jordan Tremblay, Brendon Tremblay, Kayla Tremblay, Gavin Dabrieo, Caleb Dabrieo, and Parker Jerome Dabrieo. Jerome is also survived by his four sisters, Claudette Fifield, Priscille Bouthot, Gloria Roy, Nancy Houde, his brother, Dennis Deschambault, and brothers-in-law, Richard Roy and Dicky Houde, and several cherished nieces and nephews. Jerome was born and raised in Biddeford, Maine, the son of Jerome and Rolande Deschambault. He answered the call as a young man to serve his country in the United States Navy, and in the final year of his service, he met the love of his life, Janet Anne Yarborough. With Jan by his side, Jerry worked hard throughout his whole life, with every job serving as an act of devotion to providing for his family. He was loved by everyone who met him. Jerome received awards from the United States Senate, House of Representatives as well as the city of Las Vegas, Nevada for various acts of kindness, and service to his fellow citizens. In 1982 Jerome was honored for self-less Heroism by the York (Maine) Fire Department and the Maine State Senate and House of Representatives after he was driving by a burning home, stopped, and climbed in through a second floor window to rescue a woman who was trapped inside. Jerome was a humble man, who never asked for recognition, but everyone who encountered him could see that he was extraordinary. His small, self-less acts of kindness made him a hero every day. Jerome died too soon, but his legacy of love will continue to live in the lives that he has touched. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church located at 4675 S Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, FL 32129. A memorial Mass will also be held in Maine at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 4th at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception located at 307 Congress Street in Portland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jerome's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
