Jeannine L. Bernard, 73, of Sanford, died June 28 at home after a lengthy illness.She was born in Sanford on January 27, 1939, the daughter of Hector and Evangeline (LaPointe) Blouin, attended Sanford parochial schools and was a 1957 graduate of St. Ignatius High School.Jeannine worked for New England Telephone for several years. She then worked in the admitting office of the H. D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford, and then for several years at the Sanford Credit Union. For 27 years she was happily employed at Associated Eye Care in Sanford, retiring in 2008 due to ill health.Jeannine enjoyed gatherings and shopping with her friends, especially antiquing and cruising. One of her fondest memories was working as a volunteer on Christmas Day at a local nursing home.Ever bright and cheerful, she had a generous spirit and was loved by all who knew her.Her husband of 36 years, Richard Bernard, died in 2000 and she was also predeceased by a brother, Rene Blouin.Survivors include her son Bryan Bernard and his wife Linsey of Sanford, her brother-in-law Breen Bernard and his wife Regina, nephews Breen Bernard, Jr., Michael Bernard and his wife Vicki, niece Kimberly Bodnar and her husband Bodie, her niece and godchild Kelley Bernard, nephew Jim Blouin and his wife Karyn, nephew Steve Grant and his wife Lynn, sisters-in-law Maureen Bear and her husband Tom and Cecile Boulet and her husband Richard.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 2 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Family Church of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, 66 North Avenue in Sanford with the Rev. Raymond D. Auger celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Sanford.
