Resided in:
South Portland, Maine
South Portland, Maine - Jean was born in Andover, Massachusetts, 91 years ago, to proud parents Lawrence and Elsie Mason. After graduation from Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, she became a stewardess with American Airlines. Early on she flew out of Boston, then moved to southern California where she and William (Bill) Furlong married.
Her grandchildren especially treasured her energy, strength, and sense of humor: Kathrine Gangeri (Michael), Charlotte Thibodeaux (Jonathan), Charlie Coudriet, Bill (B) Furlong and Garyn Furlong will dearly miss her love and care.
Greatly saddened by the loss of Jean are Bill’s children: Kathrine Ann Coudriet Easlick (David) and William (Billy) Furlong ( Carla).
Equally saddened by our loss are brother Alan Mason, sister Lee Ann Mason, Nephew Aaron and Louise and their daughter Graciela, and cousin Anna-Lena Frennesson (Rikard) of Sweden. Jean was pre-deceased by brother Jack Mason. She would wish to be remembered the special, loving relationship she had with her long ago deceased grandmother Maria Pearson.
In 2018, after Bill died, Jean moved to South Portland where she made many new friends while staying in touch with distant friends. She died March 13, 2023.
Jean maintained an active relationship with Brewster Academy as alumna and with the Kiwi organization for most of her life.

I’m sure my parents would have many fun-loving stories about Jean from over the years but one thing I can say is, I remember she really adored her dogs and when I was a kid my parents used to go over and have drinks with Jean, Bill and Shayne (I believe it was Shayne, the Wemereiner; and Shayne had Jean wrapped around his little finger (paw)!!! Sat on the living room couch like a human and sipped their drinks on occasion! One time they called Jean in the morning after a late night party and asked how her and Bill were feeling. She said we’re doing fine but Shane has a horrible hangover!!!
She and Bill were among my mom and dads dearest friends. My dad knew Bill through work I believe and when we lived in Memphis in late 60’s and early 70’s, they had many fun parties and get together s. They became Aunt Jean and Uncle Bill to me.
My heartfelt condolences to Jean’s family and friends.
She was a bright and beautiful light and always had a huge smile and a lot of funny things to say. The ultimate socialite!!!
I grew up nearby when my parents lived near Jean and Bill in Memphis. In the early 2000’s my parents took a yearly trip to Palm Springs where we would get to visit the Furlongs at their posh, beautiful home there. I called her Aunt Jean always and Bill was Uncle Bill. I hope they’re having a big glass of something on the rocks and telling some jokes with old friends they’ve been missing; including my mom Dee, who adored Jean!
I will miss her dearly and I’m sorry I wasn’t aware of her passing until now. Rest in peace Aunt Jean.
Amazing woman that I loved dearly
I loved Aunt Jean. Always smiling and beautiful and took time to talk to us kids. I was sorry to hear of her passing. I’m sure there is a great celebration going on in heaven right now. My condolences to her family.
friend when I lived in California
I admired Gramma for so many different reasons. I always told her I wanted to be like her. She lived life fully, she cared about others and she had a great sense of humor about life. She was a steady, strong person who was also so full of warmth. When I visited her all throughout my life, leaving her caring midst was always the toughest. I always needed a tissue because with big love of course the tears would flow. I admired so much about her and told her in recent years that I wanted to be like her. She is so loved and made such a lasting impact on my life. Michael and I will miss her greatly. Love you Gramma, K&M
