Jean-Charles Gregoire
Jean-Charles Gregoire, 86, of Sanford, died January 13 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford after a lengthy illness.He was born in East Broughton, Quebec, Canada on November 5, 1921, the son of Adonias and Yvonne (Parent) Gregoire. He came to this area as an infant and attended Holy Family School.Mr. Gregoire was a veteran of the US Army, having served during World War II.He was employed for 49 years with Jagger Brothers, starting as a bobbin boy in the spinning room and retiring in 1985 as the plant superintendent. For 25 years, he also owned and operated a fence company.A communicant of St. Therse Parish, St. Ignatius Church, he served on the parish council, the Family Life Commission and the Finance Committee.He was active in several local groups including the Sanford Knights of Columbus, the Sanford Elks Lodge and the American Legion. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels, was active in the Boy Scouts and helped to construct the helipad at Goodall Hospital. In 1998, he was asked to served as the Grand Marshall for the annual 4th of July parade in Sanford.Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lucienne (Roy) Gregoire of Sanford, 5 daughters, Rachel Lafrinea and her husband Brenton of Poland Spring, Priscilla Iappini and her husband Paul of Melrose, MA, Jeannette Lamontagne and her husband Paul, Patti Langlois and her husband Paul, Joanne Langlais and her husband Kevin, all of Sanford, a sister, Lorraine Roy of Sanford, 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church. Burial will be in the spring in St. Ignatius Cemetery.The Gregoire family would like to express its appreciation to William F.
