Jane M. Guay, 63, of Sanford, died on Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Newton Center in Sanford with her family by her side.Jane was born on December 19, 1952 to Arthur and Peggy Roy in Sanford where she grew up and attended local schools, graduating from Sanford High School in 1971. Following graduation she enrolled at Husson College in Bangor where she received her associate's degree in medical secretarial science. While attending college she met her future husband Dennis Guay. The couple married on July 14, 1973 and together they shared 42 years of marriage and raised two daughters. During her working life Jane held several jobs in the banking and medical fields. Even when Jane was working she was always a mother first and devoted her life to caring for and raising her family.Jane was an outgoing and social woman with many friends who she supported and supported her as well. She was a devout Catholic and had been a member of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish where she was very active. She had been a member of the Daughters of Isabella, was very involved in helping her husband with Knights of Columbus activities and was devoted supporter of the Right to Life movement. Jane was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. She and her husband had gone many places over the years including Florida, Alaska, Hawaii and Europe. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.Jane was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Peggy Roy.Surviving are her husband, Dennis Guay of Sanford; two daughters, Jennifer Hunt and her husband David of Danvers, Massachusetts and Jill Arel and her husband Brian of South Portland; four grandchildren, Ryan and Olivia Hunt of Danvers, Massachusetts and Aiden and Keegan Arel of South Portland; two siblings, Judith DesRoberts and her husband Michael of Sanford and Arthur Roy and his wife Geraldine of Sanford; her step-parents, Roland and Pauline Landry of Springvale; a sister-in-law, Gisele Dolbec and her husband Maurice of North Berwick and several nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, January 10th at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home located at 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 11th at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford. Interment will be at St. Ignatius Cemetery in the spring.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider sending a memorial contribution to the St. Thomas School Scholarship Fund, 69 North Avenue, Sanford, Maine 04073.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
