James S. Trask, 66, of Sanford, passed away on July 19 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford after suffering with cancer for several months.He was born in Keene, NH on December 26, 1941, a son of Norman O. and Vina (Soucise) Trask.He graduated from Keene High School, the University of New Hampshire and the University of Pennsylvania with a masters degree in forestry. He was employed by the state of Maine for several years as a State Forester and later became a self employed forestry consultant. He retired from the forestry business and became an artist, specializing in forest scenes.He served with the US Army in Viet Nam.Jim was a member and past president of the Sanford Lions Club and a member of several art associations.Survivors include his son Richard Trask, his wife Sarah and their son Jack of Newfield, son John Trask of Chicago, son Samuel Trask and his husband Nicholas de Villiers of Jacksonville, FL, sister Norma Spicher-Hillier of Sunderland, MA, brother Charles Trask and his wife Pearl of York Haven, PA, Paul Trask and his wife Evelyn of Walpole, NH, brother-in-law Hubert Spicher of Keene, NH and 4 nephews.There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale with Pastor Rick Leach of the Curtis Lake Christian Church officiating.
