James A. Reddy

James A. Reddy, 69 years old, of Shapleigh, ME, died Thursday, April 12, 2007 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME. Jim was born in Boston, MA on August 8, 1937. He was the son of the late Denis and Margaret Jarvis Reddy. He attended Boston schools, and worked as a meat cutter most of his life; working for Hannaford Grocers for over 25 years. Jim loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisher, and loved to go lobstering with his son-in-law Daniel Richard. Red Camp in St. Pondsville was a special place for Jim and his family. He often spent several weeks out of the year fishing with his boys, sharing camp stories, and creating memories that would last a lifetime. Another one of Jim's favorite things was taking yearly cruises with his friends Dick and Carlene Gantier. Jim was also a member of the Lafayette Social Club, and enjoyed time spent there with his good friends.Predeceasing Jim is a sister Anita Doolin.Surviving are his wife of 32 years Sylvia Smith Reddy of Shapleigh; two daughters, Patty Tilton, and Karen Ridley; two sons, Jimmy Reddy, and Richard McDonald; three step-children, Lance Roy, Daniel Roy, and Sherry Richard, several grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are his brothers, Dennis, Adrian, and Charlie Reddy, and a sister Joan McDonough, and several nieces and nephews.An 11:00 AM memorial service for Jim will be held this Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St. Springvale, ME.The Reddy family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
